This book tells you how to test software. I strongly recommend that all test practitioners have this book on their bookshelves. It is written for the beginner as well as the experienced practitioner.

The contents are used as course material for courses that are presented by the authors and so it has a very structured pattern. Testing Computer Software is divided into three sections, namely, Fundamentals, Specific Testing Skills and Managing Testing Projects and Groups.

The authors have added lots of practical tips and advice, based on years of implementing software testing.

The testing techniques that they describe so well are simple and effective. This is also one of the best descriptions.

I have read on defect logging, analysis and reporting. The appendix contains a very handy group of common software errors.

The authors have provided good test plan and test case templates and layouts. I have found the suggested contents of defect reports to be very effective in my own work. The section on law suites serves as an indication of the way things are going in the IT industry. Today if you deliver bad software, you may be prosecuted.

Do not just lend this book, buy your own copy, you will refer to it on many occasions.
